Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent announcement that seven to eight new semiconductor plants are expected to come online in the coming years has sent shockwaves through the tech community, both within and outside India. The industry’s notorious water and energy consumption, not to mention the e-waste generated by discarded electronics, are pressing issues that demand attention.
