Electric Air Taxis Get the Green Light for Test Flights in Texas The Federal Aviation Administration has a history of pushing the boundaries of air travel, but its latest experiment with electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft takes that trend to new heights.
The FAA's Advanced Air Mobility and Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing Integration Pilot Program (eIPP) has cleared three eVTOL companies for test flights in Texas, despite the absence of a comprehensive regulatory framework.
The program, launched earlier this year, selected eight state led projects to pioneer the development of eVTOL technology.
